The Good News of Jesus Christ is exactly that…Good News! The sacrifice He took for us was unmatchable and heart-soothing. When I saw Jesus on the cross, at first glance I didn’t know what I was looking at.

Around 10 years ago or so, I was sitting on our family’s brown sectional sofa in the living room of our New England home, when my husband told me He was taking out the trash. When he walked out the door, the instant it shut, everything in front of me went black!

Suddenly, in the darkness, a face appeared before me. Along this person’s jawline looked as if there was something red, glistening, and wet on his face. It was hard for me to make out what it was at first. It looked sort of grotesque. But as I focused my eyes a bit more, I noticed it was a very big, fresh wound from having a beard being ripped off (Isaiah 50:6). “This was Jesus!”, I told myself.

Then I looked up at His eyes and the whites of them were no longer white, but rather blood red due to the blunt force to His face. If I were to guess solely by what I was looking at, I’d say they busted the eye vessels in both of His eyes.

To make matters worse, due to the crown being pressed into His skull, I could see thick drapery of blood pouring into Jesus’ eyes from His head.

Seeing this was heartbreaking, to say the least, but I was also in disgust. I couldn’t fathom how people could be so brutal and evil to do this to a person, especially someone as perfect and wonderful as Jesus.

Then, the vision was over, I could see my living room and my husband was still outside taking out the trash.

Even though this vision upset me, I thought of the love that was poured out for you and me–how He died for those who would and wouldn’t love Him back. He was tortured so we could be free from the bondage of sin.

I had to realize that what I was looking at was a love story–the best love story ever told. But that was only half of the story because three days later was the victory!

Jesus Christ arose from the dead with all power in His hands and still remains unstoppable.
